What happens when you book us.
An outside tap is a small job, but the details matter. Done properly it includes an internal isolation valve so the tap can be shut off and drained for winter, and a double-check valve to prevent backflow into your drinking water — a requirement of the water regulations, not an optional extra.
Position
Close to an internal supply, at a practical height, and away from spots where frost collects. We'll advise on the best location.
Connect with isolation
We tee off the cold supply and fit an internal isolation valve so the tap can be shut off from inside the house.
Fit tap and check valve
Drilled through the wall, sealed both sides, with the double-check valve fitted as regulations require.
Test and demonstrate
Flow and joints checked, and we'll show you the simple winter shut-off routine.

Asked about outside taps.
Do I need to do anything in winter?
Yes — close the internal isolation valve and open the outside tap to drain it. It takes seconds and prevents the pipe splitting inside the wall during a freeze.
My existing outside tap drips — repair or replace?
Outside taps are inexpensive, so if one drips or the handle is seizing we normally replace the tap itself and reuse the pipework.
Can you fit one on the far side of the house?
Usually — it just means a longer internal run, routed neatly and priced up front.
