Gas upgrades
Gas supply pipework upsized and rerouted for new boilers and appliances — installed, tightness tested and certified by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
How it works
What happens when you book us.
Many older homes have gas supply pipes sized for the appliances of their day. Modern boilers and some hobs need a higher gas rate than a 15mm run can deliver, which causes poor performance and can damage the appliance. If you're having new equipment fitted, the supply often needs upsizing to 22mm or rerouting — work that must be done and certified by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Calculate the requirement
We work out the gas rate your appliance needs and measure what the current run delivers.
Plan the route
The most discreet compliant route — clipped properly, sleeved where it passes through walls, and kept out of sight where possible.
Install and test
New pipework installed and the whole installation tightness tested to confirm no leaks and pressure drop within tolerance.
Certification
You receive the paperwork confirming the installation meets current regulations — useful for your installer, warranty and records.
Common questions
Asked about gas upgrades.
How do I know if my gas pipe needs upgrading?
If a boiler quote mentions a gas run upgrade, or a new appliance underperforms, it's likely. We can test your existing run and give you a definitive answer.
Will there be visible pipework?
We route pipes as discreetly as regulations allow — under floors and through cupboards where possible — and clip any visible runs neatly.
Can this be done as part of a boiler installation?
Yes — if we're installing your boiler, any required gas upgrade is included in the single quoted price.
